Hidden Shadows

The dark crooked forest seemed to be abandoned. That was until you could hear a faint crying neigh in the distance. A pitiful cry calling for help.
A black shadow dived down from the sky, blending in with the dark forest itself. It's giant feathered wings folded against it's sides as it walked towards the young horse that was wailing.
The colt quieted down as the stallion neared him. He looked some what terrified at the large pegasus' appearance.
"It's okay. You can come with me," the pegsus reassured in a deep voice. The colt scrambled onto his small legs and tucked in his little useless wings. He quickly followed the stallion out of the trees hoping he hadn't made a mistake.

1 and a half years later

"Dad! Come on dad. You said you would take me to the mountains to see the northern lights tonight," a light brown yearling neighed excitedly galloping up to a black stallion pegasus who grazed on the long summer grass.
"Now did I. Are you sure Shadow?" he neighed playfully lifting up his head.
"Yes you did dad. Yesterday morning I asked you," Shadow whined stomping his hoof on the ground.
"Okay we can go. Maybe Raziel will be there with his filly," the stallion said to himself. He opened up his wings and with one mighty flap lifted into the air. "Coming?"
Eagerly Shadow jumping into the air after his father. Well Cethin wasn't actually Shadow's father but he had raised the colt. Shadow didn't remember much but Cethin told him that he had found him in an evil dark forest, abandoned from his family. Shadow wasn't sure if that was right but he liked living with Cethin and learning from him so he stayed.
Shadow loved flying. The grass and trees far below him and the clouds high above him. He had just learned how to fly about a month ago and couldn't get enough of it. The true gift of a pegasus.
The mountains looked about half an hour flight away. That used to tire Shadow out quickly but after many lessons he could fly two hours without his wings getting sore.
The time flew by quickly and soon Shadow landed next to Cethin on a jutting cliff on the mountain side. A few other horses were gathered near too. Cethin walked over to Raziel who had showed up with his daughter Nera. She saw Shadow and walked over to him.
"Hello Shadow. Nice night to watch the northern lights hunh?" She greeted finding a place next to me. I watched the darkening sky as the stars started peeking out.
"Yes it's not even that cold," he smiled, sitting down and tilting his head to the sky. It was pitch black now and the colorful lights started flickering across the sky. Shadow would always remember this night.

I based this off a really short story I wrote. I made this manip pretty quickly so there are no super details and it is not the best but I liked the way the mane and tail turned out! :3 All comments are loved.
